Denver to Colorado Springs

Tuesday 1st September 2009...
A comparitively easy day for our intrepid travellers, just 70miles from Denver to Colorado Springs, with a massive shopping trip along the way....So after a great nights sleep at the Westin we have a bit of breakfast and go out to explore the 16th street mall, basically a long tree lined street that has been pedestrianised except for the free buses that cart you up and down when you are knackered. We pick up some souvenirs, but still no battery charger for my Eos450D, what a silly billy I am for leaving that at home.

Just a short hop to the Castle Rock shopping mall...Heavens it is enormous...So two and a half glorious hours tramping round in the 85% heat...Still it was worth it as we got some good bargains, Jon got some clothes in Aeropostale & Calvin Klein, Carol got a fab handbag in Fossil and some shoes in Merrill, I got a new wallet because I did not want to feel left out.

On to the Cheyenne Mountain resort in Colorado Springs. Wow what a great sprawling country club crossed with lodges and a great view of the mountains. Apparently the haziness is due to the massive forest fire in LA.

  1. You may have better luck contacting the local Wolf Camera to see if they have what you need. It is a large knowledgeable camera store chain across the USA and should have everything. Here is the local number where you are:

    Wolf Camera
    719-597-1575
    1850 N Academy Blvd
    Colorado Springs, CO 80909

or another chain electronics store (call first though, & Best Buy is not a friendly store, be prepared for idiots):
Best Buy - First & Main
    (719) 597-9519‎
    3150 New Center Pt
    Colorado Springs, CO 80922
