A Day In Durango

Sunday 6th September 2009...
After a lie in and breakfast we walked into the town where we experienced a street full of historic buildings, hotels, shops and lines and lines of motorbikes...had coffee in Starbucks and shopped for souvenirs and fruitless search for ankle cowboy boots for Carol...did however manage to find some fabulous silver native jewellery using spiny oyster shell and opal...

Had a snack lunch in Mexican cafe, taco salad for Jon and Chicken Burrito for Carol and Jim...thunder and rain hit as we walked back to hotel, got soaked...after a dry out, Jim and Jon decided to drive to Ignacio to see what the biker festival was like...Carol opted to stay in hotel, having a quiet read and nice soak in bath...apparently Ignacio was quite an experience for the boys...

To say that we were brave is an understatement, imagine walking up and down amongst hundreds of rough looking bikers, it was scary and exciting, so big up to us.
In the evening we walked to the Ore Steakhouse to enjoy a fabulous meal of Ground Sirloin, salad, potatoes and veg (for Jim and Jon) and the BEST filet steak in the world with a peppercorn cream sauce (salad and veg too) for Carol...Jon met Australian woman who we'd seen at the Valley point stop the previous day, also enjoying a nice meal...

Returned to hotel for a quiet night and a rest before the trip to Mesa Verde and Monument Valley tomorrow...
